If you want to get traffic to your website, YouTube is a great resource because almost everyone goes there to check out new information, and if you are creating promotional videos for your brand you definitely have a chance of being discovered.
If you can create something amazing and awesome you might even have a chance of going viral and your traffic snowballing to the point where you don’t know what to do with it.
But once you’ve created and uploaded your video, how do you direct people to your website from YouTube? Here are four ways that you can do it that fit with the tools that YouTube provides.
Number one, you can put your website URL directly in the description of the video. Of course, not everyone reads the description of a video but if you put your URL as the very first text there they will see it and be more likely to click through to your site or your offer.
Instead of just using your URL you can also try enticing them with a headline and give them a reason to click on your call to action. The description boxes are there for exactly that.
Second, you can put the same information in the video annotations. The annotations are click-able so you can put your URL there and people may follow the annotation to your website.
Again, try giving them a reason to click on it which means that you’ll have to put some text or a headline around it that will make it enticing.
The third thing you can do to get people to come to your website from your YouTube video is to simply ask them as you are making the video.
If you are the one speaking in the video, just ask them to visit your site, directly, right into the camera. A personal invitation like this can be hard to resist and if you do it right you will get a lot of people visiting your website.
The fourth thing that you can do is use some on-screen graphics to direct people to your website. You don’t have to say anything at all if you don’t want to.
Instead, simply put your website URL in a text graphic at the end of your video, and again give them a reason to type that URL into a new tab.
Remember, this may not be click-able (although you can make it click-able by adding an invisible box) so you’re going to have to really sell them on the idea of visiting your website. If you can come up with a really great reason you’ll have traffic in no time.
These methods have worked well for many marketers and there is no reason why you can’t combine them or use them all. Some people will only notice one or two of them anyway so don’t worry about repeating yourself.
